On the 2nd day of the 2017 BLIA Cup International University Basketball Tournament, the 5th match-up was between last year’s 1st-time champions, Fo Guang University women’s basketball team, and the Malaysia National team. Both teams performed well in mid-range, short-range, and 3-point shots, and were contending for a position in the Final Four competition of the BLIA Cup. At the finish of their match, Fo Guang University defeated Malaysia 81-62. Despite a 19-point loss, however, Malaysia will still advance to the Final Four to compete against Nagoya for a place in the semi-finals.

In the 1st quarter, Yang Zhiyu (楊芷瑜) of Fo Guang University scored 2 points. Fo Guang University repeatedly scored points from beneath the net and mid-range shots until 4 minutes into the game when Malaysia scored a total of 5 points, with 2 points from inside the three-point line and 3 points from behind the three-point line. At the end of the 1st half, Fo Guang University led Malaysia by 9 points for a score of 36:27.

In the 2nd half, Fo Guang University scored points from all over the court, but Malaysia also performed strongly under the net. During the 3rd quarter, Fo Guang University defeated Malaysia 57-43 with 14-point lead. In the 4th quarter, Luo Peizhen (羅培甄) hailing from HBL championship winners Pu Men High School’s women’s basketball team was put into the game and scored 6 points. With a valiant effort, Malaysia made five 3-points shots, however they were still unable to come out on top. Fo Guang University won by 19 points, with a final score of 81-62.

Fo Guang University’s Wang Tingting (王竫婷) finished with 13 points and 8 rebounds, Wei Yuchun (魏于淳), Lin JiashI (林嘉慈), and You Kexin (游可欣) each scored 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively. Malaysia’s Yap Fook Yee had 15 points and 10 rebounds; Magdelene Low Phey Chyi had a 12-point performance.
